Avery Coomes, age 95 passed away on January 17, 2011. Preceded in death by father, Lee Coomes; mother, Nora Idele Tetrick Thompson; wife of more than fifty years, Eloise Edna Becker Coomes and Linnie Mai Harris Coomes, wife of over fifteen years.

Mr. Coomes is survived by son Colonel Wayne (Patsy) A. Coomes USMC-Ret., daughter Nancy (Bill) Rieves and step children Ray (Peggy Flynn) Harris, Gail (Marvin) Neely, Annette (Danny) Cox; grandchildren Lisa (Paul) Greenwood, Wayne Arthur Coomes, Jr., Robin (Danny) Lane, Rick (Carrie) Rieves and five great-grandchildren.

Mr. Coomes was born in Owensboro, KY, was a 1933 graduate of Bosse High School in Evansville, IN. He was a long time resident of Nashville, employed by AVCO as a production engineer and process scheduler. Mr. Coomes was a devoted 32nd Mason and Shriner. He was also a proud member of Nashville Musicians Association Local 257 and the Order of the Elks. Mr. Coomes was a dedicated attendee of Judson Baptist Church.

Graveside services will be 3:00 Wednesday afternoon in Woodlawn Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Judson Baptist Church Building Fund, 4900 Franklin Road, Nashville, TN 37220.

Family and friends will gather to remember Mr. Coomes Wednesday from 2:00 until 3:00 at Woodlawn-Roesch-Patton Funeral Home 660 Thompson Lane Nashville, TN 37204 (615) 383-4754
