Audrey (Porch) Pfender


BOONVILLE, IN - Audrey (Porch) Pfender, 90, of Boonville, Ind., died at 3:30 p.m. Friday, April 6, 2007, at St. Mary's Medical Center.

Audrey was born Feb. 20, 1917, in Sebree, Ky., to Isaac and Rosa German. She was a 1933 graduate of Bosse High School. Audrey was a member of First Baptist Church. She retired in 1965 from the University of Evansville, where she had worked as a secretary. Audrey had lived in Fort Pierce, Fla., on Pinetree Drive for the past 25 years and attended Southside Baptist Church.

She is survived by her husband of 41 years, Lawrence Pfender, of Boonville, Ind.; three daughters, Christina VanStone and her husband, Paul, of Linyi, China, Betsy Bunting and her husband, Howard, of Evansville, and Christy Fortune and her husband, Jeff, of Boonville, Ind.; one son, George Porch and his wife, Karen, of Evansville; one daughter-In-law, Janet Porch, of Evansville; 17 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, Arnett Porch, in 1950 and a son, David Porch, in 2004.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, April 10, 2007, at Boone Funeral Home East Chapel, 5330 Washington Ave., with Pastor Jeffrey O. Stratton officiating. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery.

Friends may call from 3 p.m. until 7 p.m. Monday, April 9, 2007, at Boone Funeral Home - East Chapel.

My deepest sympathies for your loss. I always looked at Aunt Audrey as someone who became strong through personal tragedies. Audrey was a mother and grandmother of some very special people, which is always a tribute to the matriarch who reared them.
