Charlotte (Hamsley) McGill


Charlotte (Hamsley) (Peyronnin) McGill, of Holiday Village in Evansville, died Friday, August 26, 2005.

Charlotte attended Central High School and Bosse High School, where she graduated in the class of 1934. She also graduated from Lockyear's Business College, where she was president of the Drama Club. She married the late F. Leo Peyronnin, formerly of New Orleans, Louisiana, in 1942.

Charlotte helped to found and served as an officer in Peyronnin Construction Company and Peyronnin Investments. She and Leo were founding members of Rolling Hills Country Club and the Evansville Coterie and were members of The Kennel Club, Evansville Country Club, and Friday Night Dance Club. She was active in gardening and was a member of the Bud and Blossom Garden Club and was also a representative to the Evansville Council of Garden Clubs. Charlotte enjoyed gardening, dancing, cooking, antiquing, bridge, golf, and most of all her family.

Charlotte is a member of St. Mary Catholic Church and formerly was an early member of Holy Rosary Parish. She was married in 1983 to Mr. Stanton McGill who survives her.

Charlotte is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Ward and Nell Peyronnin and Drew and Denise Peyronnin, and seven grandchildren: Addie, Louisa, Andrew, Benjamin, Henry, and Leo Peyronnin, and Chris Turney of Durham, N.C. She is also survived by her step children S. A. McGill of Little Rock, Ark. and Pamela Zoe Anderson of Sarasota, Fla. and her nephew John Hamsley and niece Barbara Bryan, children of her brother, William Hamsley, who preceded her in death in 1990.

Funeral Mass will be held 10 a.m.. Monday, August 29, 2005, at St. Mary Catholic Church, 613 Cherry Street, Evansville, IN 47713, officiated by Father Stephen Lintzenich. Entombment will be held at the Chapel of Memories Mausoleum in Oak Hill Cemetery. Friends may call Sunday, August 28, from 3-6 p.m. with a Memorial Service at 6 p.m. at Alexander East Chapel.

Charlotte requested that in lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the F. Leo Peyronnin St. Mary's Church Memorial Trust for Catholic Education in care of the Church or any favorite charity.
