Raymond L. LaRoe


Raymond L. LaRoe, age 90, of Evansville , Ind. , died at 8:32 p.m. Friday, June 10, 2005 , at River Pointe Rehabilitation Center .

Raymond L. LaRoe graduated from Bosse High School in 1934. He had the distinction of being the oldest and longest continuing member of First Baptist Church-Downtown, with over 70 years of worship.

Ray retired in 1977 from Whirlpool, where he worked as a tool and die maker for 36 years. Raymond was an avid gardener and enjoyed making pen and pencil sets.

He is survived by his daughter, Judith "Judy" Peak and husband, Chester, of Evansville; granddaughter, Paula Brinkmeyer and husband, David, of Evansville; grandson, Christopher Peak of Petersburg, Ind.; and great-grandchildren, Austin Peak, Jenna Roybal, Noah Peak and Jillian Brinkmeyer.

He was preceded in death by his sister, Clarice LaRoe; first wife, Frances ( Vaal ) LaRoe, in 1952; and second wife, Bernadine (Yates) LaRoe, in 1985.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, June 14, 2005, at Boone Funeral Home East Chapel, 5330 Washington Avenue, with Reverends Bob Johnson and Posey Gaines officiating. Burial will be in New Hope Cemetery in Newtonville , Ind.

Friends may call from 3 p.m. until 8 p.m. Monday, June 13, 2005 , at Boone Funeral Home East Chapel. Memorial contributions may be made to First Baptist Church , 320 Cherry Street , Evansville , Indiana 47713 , or to Daughters of the Nile .
