Wilfred "Mac" McCullough


Wilfred "Mac" McCullough, 91, of Evansville, died at 1 a.m. Sunday, September 9, 2007, at his residence.

Mac was born in Evansville on May 11, 1916, the son of Harry G. and Lillian (Stanley) McCullough. Mac married his high school sweetheart, Kathleen Cummings, on November 8, 1936. [Both graduated form Bosse High School in 1934.] Mac worked as a meter reader for Sigeco from 1935-1942. He then worked as an engineer on P47 wings and absorption refrigerators at Servel Inc. from 1942 to 1956. Mac retired in June 1980 from Whirlpool, where he worked from 1956 in the Engineering Department.

Mac was a 64-year member of Bethel United Church of Christ, joining the congregation in 1943. He was a past president of the congregation and was a tenor in the choir. Mac was also a member of Evansville Masonic Lodge No. 64, Hadi Shrine Temple and its Brass Band, No Ruz Grotto, Scottish Rite, Evansville Chapter No. 555 Order of Eastern Star, the Fraternal Order of Eagles No. 427 and the Temple Aires.

He is survived by his wife of 71 years, Kathleen (Cummings) McCullough; two sons, Warren McCullough of Evansville and Gary McCullough and his wife, KeiKo, of Monroe, N.C.; a brother, Harry G. McCullough of Evansville; and two grandchildren, Eric McCullough and Julie (Verkamp) Clary.

Funeral services 10 a.m. Wednesday, September 12, 2007, at Bethel United Church of Christ, 3029 N. Green River Road, with Dr. Joseph Fraccaro and Reverend Michael Erwin officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery.

Friends may call from 3 to 8 p.m. today, Sept. 11, at Boone Funeral Home, East Chapel, where the Evansville Masonic Lodge No. 64 will conduct a memorial service at 7 p.m. and No-Ruz Grotto will have a walkthru at 6:30 p.m., and on Wednesday from 9 a.m. to service time at the church.

I wish to express my sympathy to the family of "Mac" McCullough--specifically his Brother Harry.

Having lost my spouse in the past couple of years, I feel some of what you are feeling now. I will be praying for the McCullough family during this difficult time.

My father, Owen Osgatharp, knew Mr. McCullough from Servel and Whirlpool, your Dad in the engineering department and Dad in the Time Study and later in the EI group. Dad remembers Mr. McCullough fondly. Dad moved to the Fort Smith plant in the 70's. Dad wanted to express his sincere sympathy to the family.
