Helen V. (Bruce) Wagner


Mrs. Helen V. Wagner, 88, of Fort Lauderdale, Florida, formerly of Evansville, died Wednesday morning, September 14, 2005, after a prolonged illness.

She was preceded in death by her husband, William H. Wagner, who died in August 1990, and her son, William Bruce Wagner, who died in August 1993.Her three siblings, two sisters and a brother,-also preceded her in death.

Mrs. Wagner was born on April 27, 1917, in Mount Carme1, Illinois. She spent her early years in Mount Carmel and in St. Louis, Mo., but eventually moved to Evansville with her family, where she graduated from Bosse High School in 1934. She was married to the late William Wagner from July 23, 1937, until his death on August 27, l990.

In March 2003 and in declining health, Mrs. Wagner moved from her home of more than 65 years on East Gum Street to an assisted living facility in Fort Lauderdale, where her son, Allen, resided.

In addition to Allen, she is survived by two other sons, Stan of Ames, Iowa, and Brian of Los Angeles. She also leaves behind her two grandchildren, Hannah and Caleb of Ames, Iowa; numerous nieces and nephews; and special friends, Helen and Jerry Vaughan and Debbie and Paul Sparks.

There will be no visitation at Browning Funeral Home, which is handling the funeral arrangements. There will be a funeral Mass at 9 a.m. on Saturday, September 17, 2005, at St. Benedict Cathedral, where Mrs. Wagner was a long-time parishioner, followed by burial beside her husband and son in Alexander Memorial Park.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that any donations that wished to be made should be sent in Mrs. Wagner's memory to Gold Coast Hospice, 911 E. Atlantic Blvd., Suite 200, Pompano Beach, Florida 33060.
