Betty Anne (Eckler) Kothe

Betty Anne (Eckler) Kothe, 88, of Evansville, passed away Monday, December 19, 2005, at her son's residence.

Betty was born on July 8, 1917, in Evansville. She graduated from Bosse High School and was an active member of the Class of 1935 reunion committee. She attended Evansville College and graduated from Indiana University.

She enjoyed dancing with her husband at the Central Turner's. Betty spent many years volunteering at the Ivy Tech literacy center, tutoring adults in reading.

She was an avid swimmer, golfer, bowler and IU basketball fan. She enjoyed quilting, crossword puzzles and spending time with her beloved dog, Peanut.

She is survived by sons, Dick Kothe and his wife, Pat, Newburgh, Ind., Jim Kothe and his wife, Pauline, Evansville, Ind., Chuck Kothe, Nashville, Tenn., and Bill Kothe and his wife, Marie, Evansville, Ind.; grandchildren, Kristie Bondy, Bill Kothe Jr., Nannette Angel, Danny Kothe, Sarah Kothe, Jason Kothe, Tracy Cyphers; and one niece and two nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Allan S. "Jack" Kothe, in 1978.

Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, December 23, 2005, at Browning Funeral Home, 738 Diamond Ave., with the Rev. Steve Clayton officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery.

Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, December 22, 2005, at Browning Funeral Home.
