Ronald R “Chick” Shively

Ronald R “Chick” Shively died Monday, December 27, 1999 of stroke complications at St Mary’s Medical Center.  He was 82.  Owner of Shively Realty Company; he was an active real estate broker 47 years and President of  the Indiana Association of Realtors in 1968. He was named Indiana Realtor of Year in 1982; Graduate of Bosse high School 1936 where he was a cheerleader.  CC Board of Directors; Attended Evansville Collage 2 yrs and IU 2 yrs. He was also active in the Red Cross, Kiwanis Club and Good Samaritan Home.

An Indiana HOUSE RESOLUTION to honor the memory of Ronald R. “Chick” Shively for a lifetime commitment to the people of the City of Evansville.

Whereas, Ronald R. “Chick” Shively died Monday, December 27, 1999, after a lifetime of service to the people of the City of Evansville;

Whereas, Chick Shively, “the Mayor of the Main Street Walkway,” was one of downtown Evansville's most tireless boosters;

Whereas, As a real estate broker who operated Shively Realty Company for forty-seven (47) years, Mr. Shively was president of the Indiana Association of Realtors in 1968 and was named Indiana Realtor of the Year in 1982;

Whereas, Chick Shively graduated from Bosse High School in 1936, and attended the former Evansville College for two years and Indiana University for two years;

    Whereas, he was on the board of directors for both the Metropolitan Evansville Chamber of Commerce and the Center City Corporation;

    Whereas, Ronald R. Shively served with distinction as a Republican member of the Indiana House of Representatives from 1957 to 1958, and was his party's nominee for the Indiana Senate in 1958:

    Whereas, Ronald R. “Chick” Shively is survived by his wife of forty-six (46) years, Violet “Vi” Shively, his daughter, Margaret A. Faucett, his son Les Shively, and three grandchildren, Clifford Whitehead, Carly Whitehead, and Morgan Keck; Therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives of the General Assembly of the State of Indiana:

    SECTION 1. The House of Representatives honors the memory of the late Ronald R. “Chick” Shively and celebrates his many civic and political accomplishments.     

    SECTION 2. The Principal Clerk of the House of Representatives is directed to transmit a copy of this resolution to the family of Ronald R. “Chick” Shively.
