Belle (Schnabel) Ball, 92, of Evansville passed away at 7 pm, Thursday, December 15, 2011 at Good Samaritan. Belle was born February 11, 1919 in Evansville the daughter of Arthur John and Myrtle Louise (Walters) Schnabel. She was a 1937 graduate of Bosse High School where she played the oboe in the orchestra and continued playing as an adult for the Philharmonic Orchestra. Belle was a vocalist as well and sang with the Treble Tone Quartet and the Evansville Chapter of Sweet Adeline. In 1959 Belle married Curtis Ball of Henderson. They were avid members of the Sports Car Club of Evansville, where they enjoyed racing their Porsche's. Belle was secretary/bookkeeper for Henry Fliegeltaub Scrap Iron and Steel. She retired in 1980 and she and Curt moved to Los Angeles, California. While in California they owned several businesses and raised Dobermans. When Curt passed away in 2005, Belle moved back to Evansville to live with her sister and brother-in-law and attended Methodist Temple. Belle is survived by sister, Myrtle Kincheloe and husband Russell of Evansville, nieces and nephews, Belle Fahrer (Bob) of Evansville, Julie Belle Klinke (Tony) of Englewood, OH, Kathlee Wong of Chicago, IL, John Kincheloe of Lewisville, TX and Bob Harp (Dee Dee) of Evansville and several great nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband of 46 years, Curtis Ball, sister, Mildred Harp, brothers, Frank, Arthur Vernon and John Schnabel, nieces, June and Diane Schnabel and nephews, Earl Harp, Jr., Frank Schnabel, Jr. and Jack Schnabel. Funeral Services will be held at 10 am, Monday, December 19, 2011 at Boone Funeral Home East Chapel - 5330 Washington Avenue, Evansville with Pastor Chris Neikirk officiating. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery. |
