Robert R. "Bob" Williams, 92, of Evansville, IN, passed away Saturday, June 25, 2011 at Heritage Health Care Center.

Robert was born in Henderson, Kentucky on March 25, 1919 to Kirby and Mable (McCarthy) Williams. He graduated from Bosse High School in 1937. He then graduated from Evansville College and the Illinois College of Chiropody and Foot Surgery in Chicago in 1942. While serving his residency in Chicago he met Sylvia Opperman and they were married in 1942. Bob joined the U.S. Army later in 1942 and served his country in the South Pacific in the Medical Detachment, 16th Calvary where he was decorated with the Asiatic-Pacific Theater Ribbon with 4 Bronze Stars, the Philippine Liberation Ribbon and the Good Conduct Ribbon. After serving in the Army, Dr. Williams started his Podiatric Medical practice in Evansville in 1945 and served the Evansville community for over 50 years. Dr. Williams was a Life Member of the American Podiatric Medical Association, he loved to travel and would attend conferences, lectures, seminars, visited hospitals and met other doctors in his travels across the United States and the world. Bob enjoyed spending time with his family. He also enjoyed sports, music, playing cards, buying shoes and shirts for his sons and trips to Las Vegas.

Robert is survived by one daughter, Omaloy Damm, (husband-Roger), of Evansville, IN, three sons, Robert R. Williams Jr., (wife-Beverly), of Evansville, IN, James R. Williams, (wife-Mary Gayle), of Evansville, IN and John E. Williams, (wife-Sheila) of Evansville, 11 grandchildren: Robert's children, Rob Williams, Tampa, FL, Amy McNeely, (husband-David), Lutz, FL and Dawn Williams, (husband-Mike), of Troy, MI, Jame's children: James Williams Jr., (wife-Monica), of Evansville, IN, Kirby Williams, (wife-Jennifer) of Hawaii, Marty Williams, (wife-Amy) of Boonville, IN, Doug Williams, of Evansville, IN, John's children: Khara Williams, of Evansville, IN, Kent Williams, of Columbus, Ohio and Omaloy's children: Lori Rexing, of Evansville, IN and John Damm , (wife-Heechung) of Versailles, KY, three sisters-in-law, Pat Williams of Evansville, IN, Mary Williams of Evansville, IN and Doris Elst of Azelia, Oregon, thirteeen great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Robert is preceded in death by his wife of 56 years, Sylvia (Opperman) Williams, his mother, Mable (McCarthy) Williams, his father, Kirby Williams, two brothers, Paul Williams and James Williams and a special aunt, Pauline McConnell.

Funeral services will be held 10:00 AM Wednesday, June 29, 2011 at Browning Funeral Home, 738 Diamond Ave., with Rev. Randy Anderson officiating. Burial will be held at Sunset Memorial Park with Military Rites by the Retired Veterans Memorial Club.

Friends may visit from 3:00 PM until 8:00 PM, Tuesday, June 28, 2011 or after 9:00 AM Wednesday at Browning Funeral Home.
