Juliette A. (Levy) Kessler, 83, of Evansville , passed away peacefully at her home on Tuesday, April 26, 2005 .
Mrs. Kessler graduated from Bosse High School in 1939, where she was a cheerleader and continued as a cheerleader at Indiana University Bloomington. She later graduated from Lockyear College . Mrs. Kessler was an active member of Temple Adath B'nai Israel and Washington Avenue Temple , where she served as principal of the Sunday school and was past president of Sisterhood and Hadassah. She also had been a member of the Eastern Star and Daughters of the Nile . Mrs. Kessler worked for the late Stanton Bryan, M.D. and was featured as the "Susie Snyder Adviser" at Snyders Department Store. She was married to Sylvan Haas Jr. and to Mayer E. Levy. After Mr. Levy's death in 1976, she married George Kessler in 1989, he died in 2001.
Mrs. Kessler is survived by her daughter, Julie K. Binnix and her husband, Dave, and their three children, Amy Standridge and Nancy Liggin from Atlanta, Georgia, and David Marc from Seattle, Washington; her son, Van Haas and his wife, Patty , and their children, Sy of Atlanta, Georgia, Nathan and Micah of Newburgh, Indiana, Stephanie Neimi of Louisville, Kentucky, and Andrea Eickhoff of Indianapolis, Indiana; and her son, Philip Levy and his wife, Kathy and their children, Beverly and Niklaus of Littleton, Colorado. She has four great-grandchildren, Devynn, Monica, Sophia and Luke; stepdaughters, Marcia Levy, Linda Fefferman and Frances Holder, and their families; and several nieces and a nephew.
She is preceded in death by her sister, Hattie A. Levy.
Services 11 a.m. on Friday, April 29, at Ziemer Funeral Home East Chapel, 800 South Hebron Avenue , with Rabbi Barry Friedman officiating. Visitation is 4 to 8 p.m. today, April 28, at the funeral home. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery on Stringtown Road . Contributions may be made in her memory to the Shriners Hospital for Children; Multiple Sclerosis Society; American Heart Association; American Diabetic Association or to a favorite charity of your choice.
