Ruby "Delores" Skelton

 

Ruby "Delores" Skelton, 88, of Evansville, Indiana, passed away at 8:45 pm, Friday, April 2, 2010, at Good Samaritan Home.

Delores was born January 13, 1922 in Evansville, Indiana to Hiram and Mary Ellen (Dorsey) Skelton. She was a member of Garvinwood General Baptist Church, where she was a member of the Solid Rock Women's Organization. Delores was a 1941 graduate of Bosse High School. She had worked at Sunbeam and Kent Plastics and retired from Ball Plastics and had been a caregiver for several family members, including her mother, father and brother. Dodie enjoyed watching the Food Network, as well as sports and game shows on TV.

The family would like to extend their thanks to the staff at the Good Samaritan Home for all the special care and attention during her stay.

She is survived by sister, Esther Dempsey of Evansville,nieces and nephews, Cheri and Ronnie Roberts of Evansville, Larry and Bonnie Beckham of Evansville, Maridawn Wissner-Dull and Tom Dull of Boonville, Gary and Nancy Dempsey of Overland Park, KS, Nancy and Bill Nelson of Evansville, Robert and Sandy Owens of Portland, OR, Michael Owens of Evansville, several great nieces, great nephews and three great great-nieces.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Hiram and Mary Ellen Skelton, 2 sisters, Ruth Beckham and Hazel Owens and a brother, George "Buddy" Skelton.

Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 pm, Monday, April 5, 2010 at Boone Funeral Home East Chapel - 5330 Washington Avenue, Evansville with Reverend Etshel Hillhouse officiating. Burial will be in Maple Grove Cemetery, in Boonville, Indiana.

Friends may call from 10:00 am until time of service at 1:00 pm, Monday, April 5, 2010 at Boone Funeral Home - East Chapel.

What can I say? Dodie was an amazing person with an amazing family. She will live in my heart forever as well as the entire family... You are in my thoughts and prayers... Thank you for allowing me to be a part of the life of such a wonderful woman.
