Robert J. Hobbs went to be with the Lord on June 24, 2010, in Houston, Texas.

He was born on August 19, 1925, in St. Louis, Mo., and graduated from Bosse High School in Evansville, Ind. He was a veteran of WWII and served in the U.S. Navy from 1943 until 1956. He was a member of the Eagles Lodge #48 of Galveston, Texas, the Elks Lodge #1476 of LaMarque, Texas, DAV Chapter 15 Galveston, Texas, and the commander of VFW Post 6378 of Dickinson, Texas, for 10 years. He was an outside machinist for Amoco Oil/BP in Texas City, Texas, for 12 years, from which he retired in 1989. He was a very active member of Glad Tidings Church in Texas City since 1977.

He is survived by his loving friend, Lottie Lehman of Dickinson, Texas; daughter, Beth Hobbs Sanders and husband, Dr. Mark Sanders, of Houston, Texas; daughter, Deborah Crews Cothern and husband, Michael, of Texas City, Texas; daughter, Charlene Crews Dockins and husband, Darrell, of Evansville, Ind.; son, John A. Crews of Evansville; and daughter, Jolinda Hobbs Van Bibber and husband, Terry, of Evansville. He is also survived by his 10 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Lawrence and Myrtle Davis Hobbs, daughter, LeAnna Hobbs, and widowed by Charlotte Goad Hobbs and Vickie Harper Hobbs.

The family would also like to recognize his devoted caregivers, Sheila Edosomwan and Joella Citizen for their dedicated services.

Visitation will be on Thursday, July 1, from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Ziemer Funeral Home East Chapel, 800 S. Hebron Ave., Evansville.

Services will be on Friday, July 2 at 10 a.m. at the funeral home with the Reverend Ray Brown officiating.

Burial will be in Park Lawn Cemetery where the Retired Veterans Memorial Club will conduct graveside services.
