Marie Mae (Knaebel) Ebinger, 85, of Evansville, passed away Monday, January 3, 2011, at VNA Charlier Hospice Center. She was born November 16, 1925, in Evansville.
She graduated from Bosse High School and married her husband, Robert, on April 11, 1953 at Washington Avenue Presbyterian Church. She was in cost accounting for 15 years at Swift & Premium Co., which is where she met her husband. She also worked at Bucyrus Erie for 28 years as a cost accountant. She was a member of East Minster Presbyterian Church and the Lorraine Park Neighborhood Association. She volunteered with the American Heart Association, American Cancer Association and American Diabetes Association. She enjoyed reading and liked to cook.
Marie was preceded in death by her mother, Agnes Reisinger Knaebel; father, George Martin Knaebel; sisters, Agnes Knaebel Statham, Bertha Knaebel Hudson, Cecelia Louise Knaebel Donahue, and infant Alma Knaebel; brothers, George Joseph, Charles, John Edward, Paul William, Jerome Edward, and infant Martin Knaebel.
She is survived by her husband, Robert C. Ebinger; daughters, Charlene Laib (Carl "Max"), both of Evansville, Karen Bender of Cincinnati, OH; sister, Irene Winfield of Evansville; grandsons, Alan W. Mueller (Erin) of Kalamazoo, MI and Christopher A. Mueller (Allison) of Collierville, TN; great-grandchildren, Colton, Caleb and Aidan of Collierville, TN; and nieces and nephews, Carla, Jeff, Terri, Linda, Dana, Jack, Joe, Terri, Debbie, Mike, Bill, April, George N., Johnnie and Mike.
Services will be 11:00 AM Friday, January 7, 2011, at Alexander East Chapel, officiated by Rev. Shane O'Neill with burial in Alexander Memorial Park. Friends may visit Thursday from 4:00 to 8:00 PM and Friday from 10:00 AM until service time at the funeral home.
The family wishes to give special thanks to Dr. Anthony Stephens and the Oncology Hematology Associates of Southwest Indiana and their caring staff and nurses; Visiting Nurses Association and VNA Charlier Hospice Center and all of their wonderful and caring staff; Target Pharmacy family on Burkhardt Road; also Carla and Jeff Gehlhausen (Zack, Kaitlyn, Nathan and Nicole) for all the extra loving help.
