Dorothy Louise (Wilkins) (Bassett) Gerber, 85, of Evansville, Indiana, passed away Monday, January 3, 2011 at her residence. She was born December 3, 1925 in Evansville, Indiana and was a graduate of Bosse High School. She retired in 1983 from Square D as a sales representative. Dorothy loved animals, especially her dog, Mickey and was an avid University of Kentucky Basketball fan.
Dorothy is survived by her husband of 11 years, Stephen Gerber of Evansville, IN, daughter, Tammy Stroud (Billie) of Madisonville, KY, son, Gary Bassett (Susan) of Evansville, IN, sister, Evelyn Burkhardt of Newburgh, IN, brother, Clarence Wilkins of Owensboro, KY, grandchildren, Clay Stroud (Leighann Leavell), Eric Stroud (Beth), Hannah Bassett, many nieces and nephews.
Dorothy is preceded in death by her mother, Lula Mae Rothemeier, father, Thomas Wilkins, her first husband, Henry Bassett in 1983 and a grandson, John Bassett in 2008.
Funeral services will be held 10:00 AM Thursday, January 6, 2011 at Browning Funeral Home, 738 Diamond Ave. Evansville, IN 47711 with Rev. Steve Clayton officiating. Burial will be held at Sunset Memorial Park Cemetery.
Friends may visit from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM, Wednesday, January 5, 2011 at Browning Funeral Home.

Dottie and Steve are great neighbors and friends. It was a shock to hear about Dottie's quick departure from earth, but let’s not forget to glorify her new life with our Lord and Savior in Heaven. Dottie will be missed greatly, let’s all make sure and continually place Steve and the family of Dottie in our prayers to help them cope with such a trying time.
