Martha Jeanne (Jeannie) (Angle) Williams

Martha Jeanne (Jeannie) (Angle) Williams, 85, of Evansville, Indiana, died Friday, June 4, 2010, at River Pointe Health Campus, where she was being treated for pneumonia.

After graduating from Bosse High School [1943], Jeanne married Paul Williams in College Station, Pennsylvania, where he was serving in the military. After the war, Jeanne worked briefly as a dental assistant to Walter Raibley and a secretary at International Harvester. But she will be remembered mostly for her work as a homemaker and mother, especially by her three children.

Jeanne will also be remembered by the thousands of people throughout Evansville and South Florida with whom she shared not only her candy — Hershey Nuggets Special Dark with Almonds, Werther's Original Caramel Chocolate Dark, and Rollo Chewy Caramels in Milk Chocolate, to name a few — but her contagious, candy-sharing joy, as well. In this small but important way she made everyone's day a little happier.

Her friends at American Baptist East Church will remember her for usually arriving a few minutes late. But they will remember her for much more. "And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God," was one of her favorite verses.

Looking back, everything in Jeanne's life did work together for the good, a testimony to her love of God. "I've had a wonderful life," she concluded in the very end.

Jeanne would want to thank her "e-mail buddies" (too numerous to count) for all the words and laughs they've shared. She would also want to thank all of those who sent recent get-well cards. On the day before she died, she was counting get-well cards with great appreciation. As Penny's Hallmark Shop can testify, Jeanne was also one of the great card senders!

And if there were a way to thank the many NBA players for the enjoyment they brought her, Jeanne would. Without a doubt, she would offer them a piece of candy — maybe two pieces for each Indiana Pacer.

Jeanne will be missed by her children, Mark, Paula and Scott; her grandchildren, Elyse (and James Fiddes), Eric and Evan Bryant and Kirby June Williams; her daughters-in-law, DeeGee and Traci Williams; her son-in-law, Michael Bryant; many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews; and, when he is old enough, her great-grandson, Connor Fiddes.

Jeanne was preceded in death by her mother and father, Adrian and Elsie Angel; her three brothers, Gerry (and Betty), Earl (and Margaret) and Bill (and Eloise); and her husband, Paul (Bosse class of 1943).

Friends may visit Monday, June 7, 2010, from 10 a.m. until noon at Boone Funeral Home-East Chapel, 5330 Washington Avenue, Evansville.

A funeral service will be held immediately following visitation. Entombment will be at Park Lawn Mausoleum.

Memorial contributions may be made to American East Baptist Church or the charity of your choice.

we are so sorry to hear of your mothers passing. She was one of the first people we met in Florida and remained a true friend for 13yrs. We missed her dearly when she decided not to return to Florida. We did keep in touch thru email and a phone call on her birthday and again at Christmas. She was a true lady.

Dear Mark & Family, I am so sorry to hear about your mom. Jeannie was a good friend to me and when she decided not to come to FL any more she was missed. I liked writing to hear and getting all her jokes. When I could not sleep at night I go on my computer and there was a note from her. It would be 4:00 am and I had someone to write to. Your mother will be missed by many and we all share your sadness.
