Donald H. Brinker Sr.
   

Donald H. Brinker Sr., 83, of Evansville, Indiana, passed away Thursday, February 14, 2008.

Donald was born on January 3, 1925, to Raymond C. and Lorena (Wesbecher) Brinker. He attended Bosse High School and graduated from Mechanic Arts School (now North High School) in 1943. He was a life-long resident of Evansville and proudly served in the Army's 8th Infantry Division in WWII.

He retired from Whirlpool in 1983 after 37 1/2 years of service, and was active in the Twin Towers Men's Club. He was also active in the VFW Post 1114.

He married Charlotte (Scheller), who precedes him in death (June 2006). Donald and Charlotte met in 1946 and married in August 1949. Together they raised five sons.

He is survived by five siblings, Benny (Beverly) Brinker of Evansville, Beatrice (Rex) McFall of Evansville, Nancy (Paul) Ubelhor of Evansville, Roland (Jeannette) Brinker of McCutchenville, Ind.; Leona Cook of Vista, Calif.; five sons, Wade (Susie Borrell) and Donald Jr. of Evansville, Mike (Debbie) of Columbus, Ind., Mark (Polly) of Thibodaux, La., Brad (Lisa) of Troy, Mich.; 13 grandchildren, Brandee Brinker of Mt. Vernon, Ind., Makenzie Brinker of Evansville, Kandis Brinker of Evansville, Linsey Borrell of Evansville, Zachary Brinker of Greenwood, Ind., Jillmarie and Scott Williams of Lafayette, Ind., Benjamin Brinker of Columbus, Ind., Jennifer and Nathan Sharbono of Pineville, La., Kurt and Mandy Brinker of Brenham, Texas, Melissa Brinker of Thibodaux, La., Heather Brinker of Thibodaux, La., Cody Brinker of Casper, Wyom., Lauren Brinker of Troy, Mich.; six great-grandchildren, Drake Smith of Mount Vernon, Ind., Cameron Brinker of Greenwood, Ind., Brayden Stallings of Evansville, Aadyn Williams of Lafayette, Ind., Zion Williams of Lafayette, Ind., Haylee Williams of Lafayette, Ind.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Monday, February 18, 2008, at Browning Funeral Home, 738 Diamond Ave. Burial will be held at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery, where the Retired Veterans Memorial Club will conduct military rites.

Friends may call from noon until 6 p.m. on Sunday, February 17, 2008, at Browning Funeral Home and from noon until service time on Monday, February 18, 2008.

Memorial contributions may be made to the VFW Post No. 1114, 110 N. Wabash, Evansville, IN 47712.
