Clyde Malcolm Ricketts, 86, formerly of Evansville, passed away Friday, July 1, 2011 in Mesa, AZ.

He was a long time member of Zoar United Church of Christ until moving to Arizona where he became a member of Central Christian Church. He and his wife, Pauline, enjoyed being active with the American Indian Christian Mission in Northern Arizona as well as Clyde worked with the Tape ministry.

Clyde was born March 29, 1925 in Evansville, Indiana to the late Clyde Madison and Sarah Florence (Pruett) Ricketts. He grew up in the early developing years of Evansville with one of his first jobs being a "Soda Jerk" at Hills Snappy Service down on the waterfront. He continued with his working career as a Clerk at the Evansville Post Office, and was in the advertising Dept. at Mead Johnson, where he met his future bride, Pauline Harvey from Wheeling, IN. He continued on with his advertising interest at the Evansville Courier and Press then on to B & M Advertising Agency. Clyde would spend the rest of his career with WGBF AM & FM for the next 30 years ending as the Sales Manager. He was known by all for his famous "bow ties," which became his fashion after catching his long neck tie in a printing press. After retirement he and his wife, Pauline moved to Mesa, Arizona to create new adventures ranging from visiting the Hopi and Navajo Indian Reservations to exploring beautiful Arizona land.

He was a member of the Morton J. Compton Chapter Order of DeMolay, the Lessing Masonic Lodge, the Apache Lodge, Scottish Rite and Hadi Shrine where he served as part of the Public Relations staff and was in the Hadi Shrine Chanters. He was a board member of Salvation Army, Evansville Downtown Civitan Club where he served as a past President, Evansville Advertising Club and American Advertising Federation. He was also member of the West Side Nut Club for many years and on the Board of the Vanderburgh County Fair Board Incorporated. All of these contributions stemmed from his days as an Eagle Scout!

Clyde is survived by his wife of 65 years, Pauline Harvey Ricketts. They happily celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary in March of 2011 in Mesa, AZ.

He is also survived by his daughter, Debra Effinger of Evansville; son, Terry Ricketts (Deb) of Mesa, AZ; grandchildren, Angela Goedde (Duane) of Wadesville, and Amy Effinger of Evansville; grandson, Justin Ricketts (Anjie) of Queen Creek, AZ; great-grandchildren, Rachael, Michael, and Sarah Goedde of Wadesville, Kaleb and Kaeden Ricketts of Queens Creek, AZ.

Services will be 10:00 AM Graveside Saturday, July 9, 2011 at Zoar UCC Cemetery, officiated by Rev. Don Bernhardt and Rev. John Motz. Friends may visit from 3:00 to 8:00 PM Friday, July 8, 2011 at Alexander West Chapel. A Memorial Masonic service will be 6:30 PM Friday, conducted by Lessing Masonic #464.

As I am leaving on a vacation early Friday morning, I will not be able to attend the visitation. I have fond memories of Clyde's leadership at Zoar, his bow ties, and his fun-loving personality. My sincere sympathy to all of your family.
