Ethel M. (Winstead) Helfrich 85, of Evansville, passed away on Saturday, March 13, 2010, at Deaconess Hospital. Ethel was born in Dixon, Ky. on February 3, 1925, and was a [1943] graduate of Bosse High School.

She was employed as a secretary at Seeger Sunbeam Incorporated in the 1940's. Ethel and her husband Ed were married in 1949. Ethel spent a lifetime making a family and loved being with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was an avid fan of Mater Dei football and wrestling. Ethel and Ed enjoyed ballroom dancing and were members of the VFW 1114, The Eagles's, The Owl's, Riverbend, Central Turners, and Friday Night Dance Club.

Surviving is a daughter and son-in-law, Terri and Don Miller; son and daughter-in-law, Mark and Lily Helfrich; son and daughter-in-law, Randy and Becky Helfrich; son and daughter-in-law, Jeff and Marcia Helfrich; and daughter Cherri Phelps; grandchildren, John Helfrich, Lindsey Hurt, Dax Miller, Logan Miller, Nathan Miller, Alyssa Miller, Danielle Helfrich, Jaci Phelps, Jordan Phelps and Allie Phelps; great-grandchildren, Reghan Hurt and Kennedi Hurt; brother and sister-in-law, Richard and Shirley Winstead; sister, Patricia Bruner; and nieces and nephews.

Ethel is preceded in death by her husband, Edward H. Helfrich Jr.,; parents, Essel E. Winstead and Opal F. Winstead; and sister, Rachelle F. Gaines.

Visitation will be from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Monday, March 15, 2010, at Ziemer Funeral Home Central Chapel, 626 N. First Ave., with a memorial service at 7 p.m. Visitation will continue from 10:30 a.m. until service time Tuesday at Resurrection Catholic Church. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, March 16, 2010, at Resurrection Catholic Church with Father Philip Kreilein officiating.

Burial will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery.

The family would like to thank the staff at Deaconess Hospital and Deaconess Hospice Care for the special care and attention they gave Ethel.
