William Earl Harp Jr., 85 of Evansville, passed away Thursday, July 21, 2011.

Earl was born in Evansville on April 5, 1926 to William Earl and Mildred (Schnabel) Harp.

He graduated from Bosse High School June 3, 1944 and served in the Navy for 2 years. He returned to Evansville and attended Evansville College earning a degree in accounting in 1950.

Earl Harp was a prominent business man and entrepreneur owning Harp's Fish Market, Harp's Exotic Fish and Pets, Amanda Fenwick's, 13th Hour, Delta Cream, among other ventures.

He was in the Hadi Shrine Oriental Band.

Earl had been actively involved with the Friends Organization and the Athletic Booster Club at Evansville Day School for over 15 years.

He is preceded in death by his parents, William Earl and Mildred Harp.

Earl is survived by his wife, Mary Edna (DuPont) Harp; brother, Bob Harp and wife DeeDee; sons, Gary, Kymn, and Andy Harp and wife Becky; step-children, Tony and Jimmy DuPont, Jennifer Simonson and husband Danny; grandchildren, Ashley Klotz, Ryan Harp, Allison Miller, Jillian Wilsman, Jordan, Hannah, and Bonnie Harp, Justin, Kendra, Lauren, and Sarah DuPont, Gretchen Simonson; five great-grandchildren; two aunts; two uncles; several nieces and nephews and their children.

A funeral service will be held at 10:00 AM Monday, July 25, 2011, at Alexander Newburgh Chapel, officiated by Pastor Carl Mann with burial at Oak Hill Cemetery. Friends may visit Sunday from 2:00 to 8:00 PM at Alexander Newburgh Chapel, 5333 State Road 261, Newburgh, IN.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Evansville Day School Athletic Booster Club, 3400 N. Green River Rd, Evansville, IN 47715.

I love this picture of Earl! He looks happy and sweet, confident and even a bit mischievous. I can almost hear his laugh. Thank you for sharing it. I will miss him and am very happy that I knew him. May God rest his soul and May God bless all of his loved ones in this sad time. His passing will leave a void in many hearts and on many acres across Indiana. Rest in peace dear Earl, you've earned it.

I was a renter from Earl, at Sunrise East apts. When Carolyn was having some problems, I held the key for the apts, for a few months, to help him out, this was back a few years ago, he will be greatly missed by many.
