Verna L. (Wuertz) Barnett

Verna L. (Wuertz) Barnett, 80, of Evansville, passed away Wednesday, February 20, 2008, at VNA Charlier Hospice Center.

Verna was employed as a secretary at Interstate Finance, Morris Plan and Midstates Rubber Products before becoming a homemaker. She was a member of St. Mark's Lutheran Church, the Altar Guild and the Grace Circle at the church for many years. She was a 1944 graduate of Bosse High School and a former member of North Side Civitan Club.

Throughout her entire life, Verna was a very caring and compassionate person. She was devoted to family and putting the needs of others before herself. She enjoyed playing clabber, watching the birds and all wildlife and also enjoyed vacationing at Barkley Lake for many years.

She is survived by her husband of 62 years, Paul A. Barnett, and a son, Gregory C. Barnett of Evansville. Several nieces and nephews also survive Verna.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, February 23, 2008, at Pierre Funeral Home, Chaplain Jenny Miller officiating. Burial will follow in Lutheran Cemetery.

Friends may visit with the family from 2 to 8 p.m. Friday at Pierre Funeral Home, 2601 W. Franklin Street.

Memorial contributions may be made to VNA Charlier Hospice Center or St. Mark's Lutheran Church.
