Frances D. (Carrel) Kuester, 81, of Evansville, Indiana, went to be with the Lord at 1:05 p.m. Saturday, January 12, 2008. She was born on a farm in Cypress Bottoms near Boonville on February 4, 1926. She graduated from Bosse High School in 1945.
Mrs. Kuester was a faithful member of Terrace Parke General Baptist Church since 1954, serving there by teaching Sunday School for eighteen years, Junior Church for three years, as well as teaching Vacation Bible School for several years. Frances opened her home for child evangelism in the Good News Club for four years. She belonged to the Keen Agers Group, was a Sunday School Class Pioneer member, and served for a number of years as secretary and Love Gift chairman of the Ladies Missionary Society. She was known as "The Card Lady" for encouraging others, pointing them toward Jesus, and glorifying God through the many cards she sent.
Frances worked for Schiff Shoe Company and for the Civil Service, being in charge of ration stamps during WWII. She supervised the Addressograph-Multigraph Department at DeJongs Department Store on Main Street and retired from there after 18 years to raise her daughter.
She enjoyed reading, decorating, and listening to Christian music as well as music from the 1940s. She loved being in nature and enjoying God's creation. Frances' unique and enduring gift to her family was her writing. Her tributes to family members allowed loving insight into their lives and their importance to her own life. She let herself be an "open book" for her family through many personal journals and poems.
Frances herself wanted to thank Dr. Glenn Tindell, Dr. Reinaldo Pastora, Dr. Maqbool Ahmed, all her beloved family members and all who have ever loved and prayed for her, which brought joy into her heart.
She is survived by her husband of 59 years, Orion "Harold" Kuester of Evansville, IN; daughter, Melody Poff and husband Keith of Evansville, IN; sister, Betty Weber and husband Clem of Evansville, IN; grandson, Braden Poff; and nieces and nephews.
