Bryan "Broc" Jerrel passed away on March 10, 2010, at St. Mary's Medical Center.

He was the son of Rush and Minnie Jerrel.

Broc attended Washington Elementary School and graduated from Bosse High School [in 1945]. He served in the U.S. Army in 1945-46 and received an alternate to West Point from Indiana Senator Capehart. After completing his military service, he received a basketball scholarship to attend Texas Christian University. He received his master's degree from the University of Evansville.

He taught school and coached at Barrett Jr. High School in Henderson and later joined the Indiana Department of Public Instruction.

Broc was the captain of Bosse's back-to-back Indiana State Basketball Championships in 1944 and 1945. He and his teammates grew up together and entered high school with excellent skills largely due to Rush Jerrel's constant coaching of them as youngsters.

Broc is survived by his wife, Bettye Lou (Baird); daughter, Cindy and husband, Dennis Anderson, M.D.; son, John Bryan Jerrel; granddaughter, Carley Anderson; grandson, Jason McKay Miller, M.D.; brother, Gene Jerrel and wife, Joyce; and several nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be Monday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Ziemer Funeral Home East Chapel, 800 S. Hebron Avenue, Evansville, IN.

Private graveside services will be in Park Lawn Cemetery.

Memorial Contributions may be made to the Indiana University School of Medicine, Evansville Center, 4424 Vogel Road, Suite 205, Evansville, IN 47712-3596.

Betty Lou, there are so many great memories of the years our class of '45 had while we were students at Bosse. Certainly Broc played an immense part of that class history.
Sincerely, Juanita"Nita" Fowler Hopewell
