Marilyn L. (Maasberg) Standring


Marilyn L. (Maasberg) Standring, 78, of Evansville, died Tuesday, April 25, 2006, at her residence.

She was a [1945] graduate of Bosse High School and Washington University/Barnes Hospital School of Nursing in St. Louis. She was a caregiver for many years, mainly for her own family. She was a ten-year lung cancer survivor.

Marilyn is survived by her husband of 57 years, Dr. William C. Standring; daughter, Sharon Lewis and husband, Henry; son, Dr. Mark Standring; three grandchildren, Coleen and husband, Dr. Yen Ho, of Boston, Sarah of St. Croix, USVI, and Sam Standring of Evansville.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Clarence W. and Esther (Weisman) Maasberg.

She had been a member of the Ladies Eighteen Hole Golf Association at the Evansville Country Club. Marilyn was a member of St. John's East Church.

In her earlier years, she was an excellent swimmer and saw that her children also became good swimmers. She enjoyed playing Bridge and belonged to several Bridge Clubs.

Services will be 2 p.m. Thursday, April 27, 2006, at Alexander North Chapel, officiated by Lay Minister Robert Floyd, with burial at Oak Hill Cemetery. Friends may visit Wednesday, from 4 to 8 p.m., and Thursday, from 1 p.m. until service time, at the funeral home.
