John Orian Meeks


John Orian Meeks died Wednesday, July 11, 2007. Born September 11, 1927, the son of Madeline Weber Meeks and Orian Scamahorne Meeks, John attended Culver Grade School, graduated from Bosse High School [1945] and Indiana University School of Business, and served in the United States Army.

Following his retirement in 1993 as Chief Financial Officer of Evansville Federal Savings and Loan, John was a devoted volunteer at the Salvation Army.

Survivors are his wife, Marcia; his daughter Marjorie and her husband, Brian Blalock, their son, Wesley; and cousins John H. Weber and his wife, Shirley, of Evansville, Eleanor W. Ellis of St. Louis and Teen W. Haire of Fort Myers, Florida.

All are grateful beyond measure for the care of Dr. James Hambidge and for the peace, grace and compassion received from the staff at VNA Charlier Hospice Center.

Graveside services and burial will be at 11 a.m. Friday, July 13, at Oak Hill Cemetery.

Friends may visit 4 to 7 p.m. today, July 12, at Ziemer Funeral Home East Chapel, 800 S. Hebron Avenue.
