Marilyn Kathryn (Nussmeier) Robbins, 83, of Goshen, Ind., born May 3, 1927, in Evansville, Ind., and died on February 25, 2011, at Goshen General Hospital. Marilyn is survived by children, Susannah L. Bohannon and her husband, Michael of Springhill, Tenn., Dr. Gregory A. Robbins and his wife, Patricia of Goshen, Ind., and Eric D. Robbins of San Antonio, Texas. Her brother is Louis Nussmeier and wife, Myra of Evansville, Ind., and sister-in-law Jeanne Nussmeier also of Evansville, Ind. Grandchildren include Sarah Burke and her husband Coty of Springhill, Tenn., Robert Bohannon of Springhill, Tenn., Michelle Bohannon of Springhill, Tenn., Paulina Robbins of Houston, Texas, Christopher Robbins of Goshen, Ind., and Megan Robbins of Goshen, Ind. Also a great-grandchild, Ashton Bohannon of Columbia, Tenn. She was preceded in death by her parents, Oscar and Lena Nussmeier; and brother James L. Nussmeier. Marilyn graduated from Bosse High School in 1945. She went on to two years at Evansville College before transferring to Indiana University. While at Indiana, she joined Alpha Omega Pi Sorority. Marilyn graduated with honors from Indiana University in 1949, with a B.S. in Elementary Education. She married David Robbins and moved to Kokomo, Ind., where she taught second grade for one year before becoming a full-time house-wife. In Kokomo, she was active in Tri Kappa Service Sorority, the Kokomo Symphony Guild, Greek Club, and St. Joseph Hospital's Cheer Guild. When younger, she enjoyed travel and snow skiing. Marilyn was an avid bridge player and was a member of several clubs throughout her life. She was a member of St. Patrick's Church in Kokomo, Ind., and later attended Goshen First United Methodist Church with her son and his family. Visitation will be from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. Saturday, March 5, 2011, at Ziemer Funeral Home East Chapel, 800 S. Hebron Ave., Evansville, IN 47714, with the service starting at 11:30 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery with Fr. Gregory Chamberlin, OSB officiating. March 02, 2011 |
