G. Richard "Dick" Forgy, 75, of Longwood, Fla., formerly of Evansville, passed away Jan. 3, 2006, at South Seminole Regional Medical Center. He was born on February 14, 1930, in Evansville, graduated from Bosse High School in 1947 and from Purdue University with a degree in Mechanical Engineering in 1951. Dick was an avid musician who played the piano and was a member of the Musicians Union. Dick served as a lieutenant in the Air Force from 1952 to 1956, where he met Doris Stime in 1953. They were married on August 7, 1954. He worked for Whirlpool Corporation in Evansville from 1956 to 1975 in engineering and sales and marketing positions and was a member of the Christ U.C.C., where he served as a president of the congregation. Dick subsequently held executive leadership positions with White Consolidated from 1975 to 1990 in Belding, Mich., and Edison, N.J. He retired from the position of President, Edison Products, in 1990 and moved to Longwood, Fla., where he was an active member of Longwood Hills Congregational Church.
Dick was a hard-working, dedicated and loving family man who is survived by his wife of 51 years, Doris Forgy; daughter, Krista Forgy; son, Steven (Terri) Forgy; grandchildren, Jessica (Eric) Sherman, Meghan Forgy and Matthew Forgy; and his mother, Jane Forgy.
Graveside services will be 11 a.m. Saturday, January 14, 2006, at Oak Hill Cemetery, Rev. Kendall Brown officiating, with Gilham Family Funeral Home handling the arrangements. A reception will be from noon to 2 p.m. at Christ U.C.C., 3601 Washington Ave.
