Robert M. "Red" Huber, 76, of Evansville, Indiana, passed away at 6:10 p.m., Tuesday, December 29, 2009, at St. Mary's Medical Center.

Red was born January 19, 1933, in Evansville, Indiana, to Chris and Ruth (Metz) Huber. Red was a 1950 graduate of Bosse High School and attended Evansville College. He was a veteran of the United States Navy. Red was an Elder at Cullen Avenue Christian Church and Crossroads Christian Church for over 20 years. He also attended First Christian Church in Newburgh. Red was a founder and long time member of East Side Optimist Club. He was an avid golfer with two holes-in-one to his credit. Red owned and operated Red Huber Motors at Riverside Dr. and Grand Ave. He also worked at Hendrickson & Sons Motors in Boonville and Evansville Chrysler-Plymouth until 1991 in which after he retired.

He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Dorothy (Hendricks) Huber of Evansville, IN; daughter, Beth Huber Schaffer and her children, Abigail, Madeleine and Claire Margaret Schaffer, all of Evansville, IN; son, Chris Huber, his wife Rachel Reiners and their children Anne, Elizabeth, C. J. and Luis Huber and Calvin Jorgensen, all of Evansville, IN.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister, Mary Ruth Shackelford, a brother, Kenneth "Chris" Huber, a nephew, Randy Huber and an infant granddaughter, Sarah Katherine Huber.

The family would like to offer a special thanks to the Physicians and the Staff of 5 South, Cardiac ICU unit and the Respiratory Therapists at St. Mary's Medical Center.

Funeral Services will be held at 10 a.m., Saturday, January 2, 2010, at Crossroads Christian Church, 10800 Lincoln Avenue, Newburgh, with Pastor Brad Ferris and Dan Hendricks officiating. Burial will be in Park Lawn Cemetery.

Friends may call from 1 p.m. until 8 p.m. Friday, January 1, 2010, at Boone Funeral Home - East Chapel, 5330 Washington Avenue, Evansville. Friends may call again from 9 a.m. until time of service at 10 a.m., Saturday, January 2, 2010, at Crossroads Christian Church.
