Duane C. Pemberton Jr., 74, of Evansville, passed away Sunday, January 11, 2009, at Deaconess Hospital. He was born April 13, 1934, in Evansville.
Duane was active in scouting in his younger years. He was a graduate of Bosse High School [1952] and the University of Evansville where he was the Drum Major for both schools. He was active in radio at the University of Evansville and ran the recording studio. He did graduate work at the University of Illinois and marched in their band. He taught music at Elberfeld Elementary. He was an accomplished musician and teacher and taught private lessons. He was a member of the Evansville Philharmonic Orchestra, where he played Bassoon. He was past president of Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia Fraternity. Duane had his Ham Radio license.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Duane C. Pemberton Sr. and Gen (Gentry) Pemberton; and brother, Bruce Pemberton.
Duane is survived by his cousins, Dr. C. Kenneth Fischer and wife, Sara, Dr. Stephen Fischer and wife, Becky, Linda Kinkel and husband, Jack, and Nancy Hills and husband, Craig, all of Evansville, and other cousins.
Services 11 a.m. Friday, January 16, 2009, at Alexander Memorial Park, Heritage Chapel, officiated by the Rev. Mary Hurley, with burial to follow. Friends may visit Friday from 10 a.m. until service time at the cemetery.
