Gerald Hambley

Gerald Hambley, of Burton, age 66, passed away Thursday, May 7, 2009 at Brian's House Hospice.

Memorial services will be held 11 a.m. Monday, May 11, 2009 at Davison United Methodist Church, 207 E. Third Street, Davison, MI with Rev. P. Thomas Wachterhauser officiating. The family will receive friends at the church from 9:30 a.m. Monday until time of services.

 Mr. Hambley was born in St. Louis, Missouri on February 19, 1943, the son of the late Edwin S. and M. Jane Hambley. He married Mary Jane Kaylor in Evansville, Indiana on April 13, 1963.

Mr. Hambley was an operating manager for Sears, retiring in 1991 after 28 years of service. Mr. Hambley was a member of Davison United Methodist Church, Flint Elks Lodge #222 and the Genesee County Coaches and Officials Association. He served as a volunteer for United Way and Junior Achievement and as a starter for the Flint Elks Golf Club. He also had served as a M.H.S.A.A. sports official, was a council member at Davison United Methodist Church and was a Past Hole Captain at the Buick Open.

Surviving are: wife, Mary Jane Hambley of Burton; daughters, Amy Lynn Edmonds and husband Murray of Davison and Melissa Jane Whitley and husband Shannon of Charlotte, N.C.; son, Samuel Stuart Hambley of Mooresville, N.C.; grandchildren, Meghan Whitley, Emily Edmonds, Cameron Edmonds, Zoe Hambley, Zachary Kinney and Steven Kinney.

Mr. Hambley was also preceded in death by his brother, Allen Hambley.
