Tanya (Schauss) Winters, age 61 of Newburgh, died Wednesday, October 27, 2004 at St. Mary’s Medical Center. She was a strong fighter and fought a long and tough battle hanging on to this life. It was finally time for her to go home to the Lord she loved so dearly. Tanya graduated from Bosse High School in 1961. She was of the Episcopal faith and had been a member of the former St. Michael and All Angels Episcopal Church. Tanya was a compassionate person who did volunteer work for many years for the needy and mentally ill, on occasion inviting them into her home to share Thanksgiving dinner. She found great joy and peace in being by the water’s edge. She particularly loved the ocean and spent many vacations in and around Sarasota and Siesta Key, Florida. In recent years she also enjoyed many happy days at Kentucky Lake. She was preceded in death by her mother, Evelyn Schauss in 1964, and her father, Wilfred Schauss in 1977. Tanya is survived by her husband of 41 years, Terry Winters; her daughters; Tammy Aguilar and her husband, Luis, and Tracy Marx and her husband, Kevin; granddaughters, Christal Marx and Madison Marx, all of Newburgh. Services will be held at 1:00 P.M. on Sunday, October 31, 2004 at Alexander East Chapel, with Reverend Robert Nall officiating. Burial will be at Alexander Memorial Park at a later date. Visitation will be on Saturday, October 30, 2004 from 2:00 to 8:00 P.M. at Alexander East Chapel. Memorial contributions may be made to the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation.
