Michael V. Kelly, 66, of Evansville, Indiana, passed away Saturday, November 14, 2009, at Select Specialty Hospital.

Michael graduated from Bosse High School in 1962, where he played on the football team for 4 years. He retired from Whirlpool Corp. in 2001 after 38 years of service. Michael was a member of Local Union 808, where he was a Union Steward. He was a member of Reed Lodge #316, Scottish Rite Valley of Evansville, Hadi Shrine, Director Staff, Swords of Bunker Hill, Order of HA-YA-KA-WA and Hillbilly Clan. Michael was also a member of the Evansville Athletic Club and was a United States Marine Veteran. He was an avid NASCAR fan and a very grateful friend of Bill W. for 15 years.

Surviving are his wife of 38 years, Ruth Ann (Pemberton) Kelly of Evansville; sons, Tim Kelly of Evansville and Dennis Kelly of Evansville; granddaughter, Carlie Boos of Arnold, Mo.; brother-in-law, sister-in-law, and cousins, nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father, Albert V. Kelly and mother, Edna (Strait) Kelly Bitts, grandparents, Walter and Marie Grossman and Russell and Franchion Kelly.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m., Saturday, November 21, 2009, at Browning Funeral Home, 738 Diamond Avenue, Evansville, IN 47711, with Rev. Chris Neikirk. Burial will be held in Oak Hill Cemetery, where the Retired Veterans Memorial Club will conduct military rites.

Friends may visit Friday, November 20, 2009, 2 to 8 p.m. at Browning Funeral Home. A Masonic memorial service will be held at 7 p.m. conducted by the Reed Lodge #316 and a Shrine walk through at 6:45 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to Old Stone III, 770 E. Walnut St. Evansville, IN 47713 or Hadi Shrine Transportation Fund, 6 Walnut St. Evansville, IN 47708.
