Prentice Browning, 59, died Monday, October 3, 2005, in Newburgh, Indiana. He retired as a trainmaster for CSX Railroad after 35 years of service. Prentice was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church. He had also been a member of the Rotary and Elks in Madisonville, Kentucky. Prentice enjoyed playing golf and cards, was a real family man and especially enjoyed spending time with his grandson, Luke. He was preceded in death by his infant son, Brad Browning. Prentice is survived by his wife of 35 years, Linda Browning of Newburgh; sons, Robert Browning and wife, Beth of Newburgh, and Jeffrey Browning and companion, Jennifer Wilson of Nashville, Tenn.; sister, Norma Scherer of Newburgh; grandson, Luke Browning of Newburgh; nieces, Patty Hubert and husband, Paul, Debbie Grant and husband, Kelly; 4 great-nephews; 1 great-niece; and an uncle, E.V. Sparks and wife, Buelah. Services 2 p.m. Thursday, October 6, 2005, at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, officiated by Rev. John Meredith, with burial at St. John's Catholic Cemetery in Newburgh. A memorial service will be held at 7 p.m. today, October 5th, at Alexander Newburgh Chapel. Friends may call today, October 5th, from 3 to 8 p.m., at Alexander Newburgh Chapel and Thursday, October 6th, from 12 noon until service time, at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church.
