William "Bill" F. Epley, age 61, of Evansville, Ind., was called to Jesus on Monday, March 30, 2009, with his family by his side. Bill fought a long and courageous fight with lung cancer.

Bill was a 1965 graduate of Bosse High School and a graduate of Lockyear Business College. He served in the United States Army and was stationed in Germany. Bill returned to the United States and worked for Sigeco and Indiana Wholesale until he followed his passion for driving. He toured most of the continental United States with his semi. He later worked for Towne Air until his illness forced him to turn in his driving gloves. He earned many safety awards.

He was preceded in death by his father, William O. Epley, and grandparents, Harry and Ruth Epley and John and Cordelia Kinney.

He is survived by his loving mother, Dorothy (Kinney) Epley of Evansville; two sisters, Carol (Doug) Dye of Valparaiso, Ind., and Marsha (Jerry) Hauke of Evansville; two nephews, Mark (Lisa) Hauke of Gladstone, Mich., and Chris Hauke (Laurie Colby) of Fishers, Ind.; and two grand-nephews, Alex and Nathan Hauke of Gladstone, Mich. He is also survived by special friends, Paula Fueling of Evansville, and Stephnie and Rodney Clifford and their children, Megan and Rieghlynn, all of New Haven, Ill.

The family would like to thank Dr. Ziegler and all her staff and a special thank you to Deaconess Hospice Care Center and their nurses and volunteers, who showed such compassion in their care of Bill.

Funeral services will be held at 9 a.m. Friday, April 3, 2009, at Boone Funeral Home East Chapel, 5330 Washington Avenue, with Pastor Jeff Stratton and Pastor Lester Howard officiating. Burial will be in the military section of Oak Hill Cemetery, where the Vanderburgh County Retired Veterans Club will perform full military rites.

Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday, April 2, 2009, at Boone Funeral Home, East Chapel.

Memorial contributions may be made to Deaconess Hospice Care Center, 600 Mary Street, Evansville, Indiana.
