My deepest condolences to his family and the wonderful ladies at the office. Dan, Brenda & Olivia Bertinelli (Evansville, IN)

Dear Brenda, family and "girls at the office", I am one of those many patients who considered Dr. Bruce a good friend. He and "the girls" have taken such good care of me and my family, for nearly 20 years. I have been praying for you all for a long time, but especially hard the past few weeks. I new a couple weeks ago that Bruce was really pushing hard, it was the day he was supposed to start a new chemo. He wasn't looking forward to that, but he said,"maybe it will help." I left there with tears in my eyes that day. I know he wasn't ready to leave us, but I guess God needs him more.
Brenda, Dr. Parvin and family, Bruce loved you all so much. He talked about you all of the time with a smile in his heart and a twinkle in his eye. I feel like I know you all. He was so proud. I can't understand the depth of your pain, but I pray that God will see you through. I will miss him too. In Christ's love, Sharon Sexson-Lyle (Lynnville, IN)

Things will never be the same without you Bopper. Jerry "The King" Lauer (Evansville, IN)

Bruce has been our dentist for 21 years. We picked him because his office was close to home but we kept him as our dentist because of his friendliness and concern for our comfort whenever we needed him. Going to the dentist can be a fearful and painful event, but going to see Dr. Bruce was fun. He was a great guy and a super dentist. Our kids really liked him too. We are definitely going to miss him. I guess I'm glad I needed that filling on the Tuesday before he died because I got to see him one more time. Goodbye Dr. Bruce. Greg and Beth Valentine (Evansville, IN)

I left Evansville seven years ago so I did not know Dr. Raibley had been sick. As I reviewed the newspaper via the internet, I was stunned when I saw that he had passed away. I feel as though I have lost a good friend. He was not only a fine dentist, he was an outstanding human being. One Christmas Eve morning one of my crowns fell out. That meant going through the holidays without being able to enjoy Christmas dinner. I left a message on his office phone and within an hour he called and said to meet him at his office. He took care of my problem and seemed happy to be of help. I never forgot his kindness. He always made me laugh and he always made sure I received the finest dental care. To Dr. Raibley's family: My heartfelt sorrow for you at this time of such a staggering loss. I send you warm thoughts and prayers of comfort. I hope you find peace remembering all he did and all he was. Jeanne Sexson (Leesburg, GA)

Brenda: I was sorry to learn of Bruce's death, and can only imagine the depth of your grief as you come to terms with his loss in your and your family's lives. He was, as you know better than anyone, both a talented and gentle spirit who made his impact on people with grace and generosity. I appreciate having known both of you when we were all younger and dealing with much less serious matters, and trust that the mutual web of friends you have developed since then can offer meaningful comfort to you in the weeks and months ahead. Warmly, John Danner (Berkeley, CA)

Bruce was an icon - representing an era that spanned over 61 years - a "low rider" who stayed in the background, nurturing his music, his love of his practice, his abetting those who were in need; but mostly,
his love for his friends, children and his beloved wife. We will miss him as more than an individual who passed this way on Earth, but as an inspiration for what should be in the future, and we will work forever and continuously to carry on his ethical and moral conduct in the dentist industry as his "team" who lovingly watched out for him each and every day. Teresa Grotius (Evansville)

What a great loss. Dr. Bruce has been dentist to my family for over 20 years and he attended the funerals of both my mom & dad. I remember the first time I went to him and was told he was more afraid of inflicting pain than his patients were of receiving it! He was so kind & gentle that I lost my fear of dentists. He never failed to ask about everyone in my family when I saw him. And his never-ending music collection was awesome!! May his family (and his staff) be comforted knowing he is with his heavenly Father now. Betty Betz

Bruce has been our dentist for so many years I've lost count. I went to him scared to death and knew I had a lot of dental work that needed to be done. Bruce was a gift from God to me, a true professional in all he did for me and my family as a dentist over the years, but above all he was a human being, full of compassion, never wanting to hurt you and would do all he could not to. We loved the atmosphere at the office, music to sooth and friendly smiles from all, especially Bruce. To the family and all of "girls" at the office we send our deepest sympathies for your loss. Brenda, Our old classmate, John David Danner, said it best. Bruce was a most kind and gentle spirit. Memories of all those years ago, when Bruce, Gary, Wally and I and all the others hung together came flooding back. What a devastating and crushing loss for us all. Even as I write this I see his special laughing smile and hear his voice. It seems as if we should still be on our way to see Bosse playing North in basketball and watching you lead cheers. Special friends are life-time friends, even when you only see them once every 5-10 years. Moreover, they are irreplaceable. My prayers and love go out to you, your family and Bruce's parents. May God care for you in a special way during this most difficult time. (Please know that I would have sent flowers but was out of town and did not get back until this morning, 16 September.) David McDonald (Bangkok, Thailand)
