To MJ's family, My husband and I were friends with her in Garmisch, Germany from 1982-1986. There are so many things I would love to say about her. Her friendship, her smile, her silliness, are so etched in my heart and soul. I will have the fondest memories of her until we meet again. And when we do, she will have that crooked smile, with her head cocked to the side and staring wide eyed. We love Mary Jane and forever hold her memory dear to us. Our heartfelt condolences. May you find peace and comfort in the days to come.

I remember MJ very fondly from my time in Garmisch ('82-'88). She was a wild and crazy woman and I loved her dearly. I have thought of her often since leaving Garmisch, remembering she moved back to Evansville, IN. Always wondered whatever happened to her and I am so sorry to learn that she has died. Too young. Too sad.

MJ was such a wonderful spirit. I first met her in the late winter of 1970 with her friend Jane Keerl. Jane and I established a relationship and were traveling out West in 1972 when we encountered MJ quite unexpectedly in the Rocky Mountains. She had met some people while hiking in the Grand Canyon and traveled with them to the exact place we were camped out. Truly amazing. Jane and I married a year later. We truly enjoyed Captain Charley's hospitality when invited aboard the family boat "The Laura." Years later, at a Steel Head Band reunion concert, I saw a woman dancing like no one was watching. It was MJ, and I hadn't seen her in years. She will always have a special place in my heart and mind.

To the Family of Mary Jane Roberts:
One of our 1970 Bosse High School Classmates just emailed me and informed me... Mary Jane always made everyone around her laugh! She and I were in several classes together. I was Black; she was White. I was quiet and shy; she was bold and brazen! I was and still am very spiritual; she was a "free spirit". Only God knows how and why we became so close! My memories of us (especially in Mr. Ray Begarley's Speech class) just became even more precious to me. It's just like Mary Jane to donate herself to help others. I loved you so much, and miss you already, Crazy Mary Jane! I'm so glad that we crossed paths!!!

It is so difficult to believe that we won't be seeing MJ on this plane again. I know that things were not easy for MJ but even in the most trying times her zest for life was rivaled by few. I have been blessed with many good memories with MJ since we met in 1970. Those memories will stay safe and warm in my heart. It is comforting knowing that she is in a place of peace and love. I hope those of us who remain can find comfort and joy in the memories we have of Mary Jane and the time she shared with us.

I remember MJ very well. She hung out with a lot of us musicians around 1969-70.Her dad was in the plastics business and they lived on a houseboat/barge on the river. She worked at ARS (Advertising Research Systems)in the mid-70s and was at Risley & Julian every day with Meg doing production. I saw her there all the time. She was bubbly and fun. Evansville has lost a kindred spirit.RIP Mary Jane. Recards to the family!
