Norman W. "Daddy-O" Jones I

Norman W. "Daddy-O" Jones I, of Evansville, Indiana, went home to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Friday April 17, 2009, at Deaconess Hospital with his family by his side.

He was born on August 31, 1953, to Elisa (Casey) and Carolyn Mockobee in Boonville, Indiana. Norman was raised by his great-grandparents, the late General and Jennie Moss. He attended Benjamin Bosse High School and graduated in 1971. He was employed at BFI where he worked for many years. In May of 1974, he married the love of his life, Bonita P. Givens-Jones.

Norman loved people. He took enjoyment in spending time with family and friends, and inviting people over to his home to have a good time. He was very friendly to all, and never met a stranger. If you ever needed anything, he was always there to help. Norman was quite the outdoorsmen. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and loved to cook. He was an avid griller. He truly loved his family. He was quite a jokester, always making jokes and laughing.

He was a member of St. Andrews Church in Boonville, Indiana, and later joined Faith Temple Church Of God In Christ under the pastoral ship of Elder John D. Dennis III.

Norman leaves his legacy with his devoted wife of 35 years, Bonita P. Jones; his lovely daughters, Carolyn Lane and Hanah Jones; sons, Norman Jones II, Tashmond Jones, Robell Givens and DeMarco Lane; grandchildren, Trent Marion, RonShaga Crider, Ryan Givens, DeMarco Lane Jr., Nathalia Givens, Tashmond Jones Jr., Gabriel Givens, Teyon Tramil, Quiana Malone and Teliah Thomas; stepmother, Anna P. Jones; sisters, Mildred (Jeremiah) Thacker, Donna Jones, Darla Jones, Hope (Eugene) Ellis and Yvette Dozier; brothers, Otho Jones, Delmonte Jones, Carroll Jay (Stacey) Jones of Knoxville, Tenn., Pat (Carla) Dozier, Levon Dozier, Henry Dozier, Ben Dozier and Ronald (Angela) Dozier of Mesa, Arizona; godchildren and nephew, the Reverend George Madison; and godchild and niece, Dannisha Jones. Also surviving are 7 great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, uncles and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, grandparents, Ann and Earnest Mockobee, granddaughter, Dezi'Ana Marion, brothers, Casey, Darrel, Jeffery Jones and Donald Elaum and a nephew, Curtis Wilson.

His Homegoing celebration will be Thursday, April 23, 2009, at Memorial Baptist Church, 605 Canal Street, Evansville at 10 a.m. with the Elder John D. Dennis III, officiating. Wake services are 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, April 22, 2009 at Osborne Funeral Home. Osborne Funeral Home is serving the Jones Family.
