Visitation for Susan E. Hansing, 56, will be from 9 to11:30 a.m. at Lord of Life Lutheran Church, 40W605 Route 38 (corner of Route 38 and La Fox Road), LaFox, Ill. on Saturday, Oct. 30. A service to celebrate her life will follow visitation at 12 noon. Private family interment will follow at a later date. Born Sept. 16, 1954, the daughter of Harold and Barbara Shelton in Evansville, Ind., she passed away suddenly following complications from stroke on Tuesday, Oct. 26, 2010. Susan grew in Evansville and attended local schools graduating from Benjamin Bosse High School in 1972. Susan met Bill Hansing, when fate intervened in 1971. A year later they would begin their 38-year journey together when they were united in marriage on July 15, 1972, in Evansville. They began their new life together in Evansville welcoming their son, Chris that very year. In 1976, Andy was born and Brad completed their family in 1982, after they had settled in Bloomington, Ill., having moved there in 1980. In October of 2000, they moved to Geneva, and have since made that house a home for the last 10 years. Susan attended Lord of Life Lutheran Church in LaFox. Susan had a heart for caring. Her selfless nature was reflected in all that she did, whether it was for family, friends or anyone in need of help. That was Susan's calling. Behind every successful man is a strong supportive woman, and Susan was all of that and more to her husband, Bill. No detail was left unfinished, no job was left undone. She was the consummate wife and mother and no one could do it better. Nobody loved their family more than she did and she showed them in a thousand ways every single day. Her heart only grew when she was blessed with two grandchildren, Lucy and Holly, who quickly became the apple of her eye. Susan also liked to travel and was most fond of her trips with her loving husband, no matter where they went, but her favorite destinations became Hawaii and Sedona, Ariz. When she wasn't taking care of her family or making wonderful one-of-a-kind memories traveling with Bill, she held her own on any tennis court she could find. It was a talent she passed on to her boys and one she enjoyed sharing with Bill. Though a stroke stole from her many of the things she did on a daily basis, it never affected her heart or the love she had for her family. The mark she left on their hearts will be one that will stand forever more. She is survived by her husband, Bill of Geneva; three sons, Chris Hansing of St. Charles, Andy (Kate) Hansing of St. Charles and Brad (Abby) Hansing and their children, Lucy and Holly, also of St. Charles; one brother; two sisters; and several nieces, nephews and a family of friends. She was preceded in death by her parents. In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established in her name to benefit Bible Study Fellowship International. Checks may be made to the "Susan Hansing Memorial" and mailed in care of P.O. Box 66, Elburn, IL 60119.
