Debra Quinn (Simon) Azumah, age 54, of Evansville, Indiana, passed away at 6:17 p.m. on Sunday, November 22, 2009, at St. Mary's Medical Center in Evansville.

Debra was born December 15, 1954, in Evansville, the daughter of Shirley Simon. She was a member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church in Evansville, where she was a Sabbath school teacher, and a member of the Dorcus Society. She was a 1972 graduate of Bosse High School and received her LPN License at Annex North. She served as an administrative assistant for the Evansville Fire Department in Evansville. Debra worked as a volunteer at the Lincoln Senior Citizens Center and later became their secretary, assistant director and finally the center director. She also served as a volunteer at the City Tenant Council. Debra was an avid bowler and loved ceramics. She also worked at numerous nursing homes in the city.

She leaves to cherish fond memories two daughters, Andrea M. Jones of Prattville, Ala., and Amber Quinn of Evansville; two sons, Alexander Azumah and Austin J. Quinn-Azumah, both of Evansville; Aunt Norma Malone of Louisville, Ky.; brother, Robert Simon of Indianapolis; grandchildren, Jeremiah D. Terry, Andre (AJ) Jones and Alexa (CoCo) Jones and a host of devoted nieces, nephews and cousins.

Her celebration of life will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, Nov. 30, 2009, at the Metropolitan Seventh Day Adventist Church in Evansville, with Pastor Donald Morris, Eulogist, and Pastor Victor Wilson officiating minister.

I am very sorry to learn of Debbie's passing. I have not seen Debbie in years. We attended both, grade school and high school. Debbie possessed a full laugh and a bright smile and I feel sure she carried it forward in her years ahead. Please know that my thoughts and prayers are with you, her family.

I am sorry for the loss of your mom. I worked with Deb closely at a local nursing facility years ago and have not seen in a while. She was always happy and funny. Know that you are remembered.
