Daniel Whitfield, 55, of Evansville, passed away at 3:02 p.m. Tuesday, March 10, 2009, at Deaconess Hospital.
Daniel was born Jan. 16, 1954, in Evansville, Ind. to Richard and Alice (Forney) Whitfield. He was a 1972 graduate of Benjamin Bosse High School, where he was president of the Student Council. Daniel attended Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology and University of Evansville. He was employed by B & M Electronics and was a member of First Christian Church. Dan loved animals, especially his menagerie of cats.
He is survived by his wife of 10 years, Carol (Bernardi) Whitfield; stepdaughters, Devon Bernardi and Kelly Bunton; his parents, Richard and Alice Whitfield of Evansville, Ind.; sister, Carolyn Gallagher of Evansville, Ind.; grandchild, Kaitlin Bunton; aunt, Mary Roberts of Harlingen, Texas; uncles, Charles Forney of Orlando, Fla., and Charles Whitfield and his wife, Aileen of Newburgh, Ind.; cousins, Susan Forney of Orlando, Fla., David Forney of Umatilla, Fla., Chuck Whitfield of Newburgh, Ind., Kim Hurst and her husband, David of Boonville, Ind., and Karen Fitzpatrick and her husband, Dave of Terre Haute, Ind., and nephew, Christopher Gallagher of Evansville, Ind.
Funeral Services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, March 16, 2009, at Boone Funeral Home East Chapel - 5330 Washington Avenue, with Reverend Mitch Stichler officiating. Entombment will be in Oak Hill Mausoleum.
Friends may call from 2 to 6 p.m. Sunday, March 15, 2009, and from 9 a.m. to service time at Boone Funeral Home East Chapel.

To Dan's family, I am so sorry and shocked to read this. I remember Dan very well from high school (Bosse 1972) and years later as always kind, cheerful, and calm. Dan was a great friend. Looking back on those days now I realize how much of a positive and happy influence he was on my life - and I'm sure on many others.

Dan’s Family; I am so sorry for your loss. I used to seek out Dan's counsel on all things electronic when he was at Audio Trend on Weinbach in Evansville.
