Kristy Joelle Murphy Gathings departed from this earth to join her heavenly Father on July 28, 2011 at Barnes Jewish Hospital of St.
Louis, MO at the age of 43. Kristy was born March 9, 1968 at Deaconess Hospital. She was a graduate of the 1986 class of Benjamin Bosse High School. After high school, Kristy attended Tri-State Beauty College, where she excelled in her class. Kristy was a dedicated employee of Buehler's Buylow for 20 years. She managed the bakery department.
Kristy was a member of Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church. Kristy enjoyed walking, watching television, computing, listening to music and spending time with her treasured dog, Kashi. However, the love of these things shows no comparison to that of her family.
The following surviving family members will miss Kristy more than can express: Mother, Dorothy Byrne Murphy; father George Murphy and wife Jacqueline Morgan Murphy, all of Evansville; daughters, Brittany Murphy of Indianapolis, Lyndsey Murphy of Evansville and Kelsey Murphy of Evansville; sisters, Tracy Murphy of Evansville, Kelly Murphy Perkins of Evansville, Tracy Morgan Smith of Boonville and Stacy Morgan Kaine of El Segundo, CA and lifelong companion, Christopher Gathings of Evansville.
Visitation will be Tuesday, August 2, 2011 at Boone Funeral Home-East Chapel, 5330 Washington Avenue, Evansville from 4 pm to 7 pm and from 11 am until 12 noon, service time, Wednesday.
Services will follow Wednesday, August 3, 2011 under the officiation of Reverend Donald Barrett. Burial services will immediately follow at Oak Cemetery.

May you all feel Gods loving arms wrapped around you at this difficult time. Kristy's family and friends are all in my prayers.
I'm Free
Don't grieve for me, for now I'm free I'm following the path God laid for me. I took His hand when I heard him call, I turned my back and left it all. I could not stay another day, To laugh, to love, to work or play. Tasks left undone must stay that way, I found that place at the close of day. If my parting has left a void, Then fill it with remembered joy. A friendship shared, a laugh, a kiss, Ah yes, these things, I too, will miss. Be not burdened with times of sorrow, I wish you the sunshine of tomorrow. My life's been full, I savored much, Good friends, good time, a loved one's touch. Perhaps my time seemed all too brief, Don't lengthen it now with undue grief. Lift up your heart and share with me, God wanted me now... He set me free!

Kristy would laugh at me for making a big deal out of this, but would appreciate the thought too. Kelly, it's been years. I've been gone so long I've only seen pictures Kristy shared of the girls. I am so sorry Kristy was ill and so sorry it couldn't be fixed, and so happy to know she had so many people that loved her.
My thoughts are with you all, Zina Brown, Cypress, TX
