Michael Housman, 33, of Evansville passed away at 7:45 pm, Friday, June 24, 2011 at Deaconess Gateway Hospital after a brief illness.

Michael is the son of Paul Housman and Lorraine Wurtz, both of Evansville. Michael went to school at Glenwood and Bosse High School [1995?] and attended Evansville ARC on Virginia Street. Michael loved Special Olympics baseball, basketball, bowling, country music, dancing, WWE wrestling, pretty girls with brown hair, eating out, celebrating his birthdays, the 4th of July, Christmas and the Colts. He touched many lives with his joy of life. Michael will be missed by all who knew him, especially the staff at Evansville ARC and SIRS who provided loving care for him.

Family members celebrating his life include his stepfather, Stephen Wurtz, stepmother, Linda Housman, sister, Laurie Housman of Louisville, brother, Christopher Graham of Evansville, stepsister, Krista Jones and her husband Chris of Haubstadt and stepbrother, Eric Bell of Evansville. Other family member include aunts and uncles, Elaine and Frank D'Amore of Elyria, OH, Evelyn Velez of Lorain, OH and John and Dee Szklar of Vermilion, OH, nieces and nephews, Deyanna Wilson, Erik Bell, Eron Bell, Erika Bell, Cole Jones, Kenzie Jones and Kylie Jones, cousins, Ryan Szklar, John Szklar, Gina Zickafoos and Julian Velez and paternal aunts, uncles and cousins.

The family is grateful to the SIRS team, who have been Michael's caregivers and championed for his individual rights, and to the nursing staff at Deaconess Gateway Neuro ICU, who have given Michael and his family compassionate care.

Funeral Services will be held at 1 pm, Tuesday, June 28, 2011 at Boone Funeral Home East Chapel - 5330 Washington Avenue with Reverend Dan Kennedy of Zion United Church of Christ, Newburgh officiating. Entombment will be in Park Lawn Mausoleum.

Friends may call from 3 pm until 8 pm, Monday, June 27, 2011 at Boone Funeral Home - East Chapel and again from Noon until time of service at 1 pm, Tuesday.

Michael was one of the sweetest, funniest, dearest people I have ever known. He will be missed with floods of tears and then gales of laughter at the memories we have of him. Sending Michael's family all my love.

Michael was on my basketball team and softball teams for two years. Even when he wasn't playing for me, he always greeted me with a smile and a hug. I will miss his laughter and ability to always have a good time. I offer my deepest sympathies to his family and friends. Sean O'Shea
