Helen E. (Rodgers) Weber


Helen E. (Rodgers) Weber, 88, of Evansville, died Wednesday, March 22, 2006, at Woodlands Convalescent Center.

She was born in Evansville, February 25, 1918.

Helen was preceded in death by her husband, Charles A. Weber, who was killed in World War II while serving in the Air Force as a pilot in England; her parents, Clarence G. and Lettie J. Rodgers; and her brother, James.

She is survived by her sister, Irma Jean Rodgers of Evansville.

Helen was a graduate of Bosse Elementary and Bosse High School [1936?], University of Evansville and Indiana University.

She was a well-known business teacher at Wadesville High School, Oakland City High School, and Bosse High School. Helen was also a part-time instructor at the University of Evansville and University of Southern Indiana. Her teaching career spanned over 40 years.

Helen was a life member of the National Education Association and a member of Delta Pi Epsilon (honorary business fraternity), the Indiana Retired Teachers Association, and Evansville Retired Teachers Association. She served on the Board of Trustees of Oak Hill Cemetery. She was a member of First Baptist Church. She received the Alumni Achievement Award in 1976 from the University of Evansville.

Services will be 2 p.m. Saturday, March 25, 2006, at Alexander East Chapel, officiated by Reverend H. Posey Gaines, with burial at Oak Hill Cemetery. Friends may call from noon until 8 p.m. Friday and from 11 a.m. until service time Saturday at the funeral home.
