Alvin Clarence Anderson, 87, of Evansville , passed away on Sunday, February 6, 2005 , at North Park Nursing Center .
Alvin was a graduate of Bosse High School and the University of Cincinnati . He was a veteran of the United States Navy as full lieutenant serving in World War II from 1942 to 1945. Alvin retired as an engineer in 1981 from Whirlpool Corporation. He was a member of St. Benedict Cathedral and St. Vincent DePaul Society.
Alvin is survived by his wife of 61 years, Mildred (Garvey) Anderson of Evansville; daughters, Susan Anderson of Cincinnati, Ohio, Barbara Rettig and her husband, Joe also of Cincinnati, and Nancy Vaught and her husband, Doug Sr. of Evansville; sons, Ed Anderson and his wife, Susan, of Newburgh, Vince Anderson and his wife, Diane of Evansville, and Ralph Anderson and his wife, Angie of Newburgh; 13 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; two step great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
Services Wednesday, February 9, at 10 a.m. at Ziemer Funeral Home East Chapel, 800 South Hebron Avenue, continuing at 10:30 a.m. at St. Benedict Cathedral, with Father Harold Hammerstein OSB officiating. Visitation is today, February 8, from 2 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home, with a memorial service at 7 p.m. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery . Memorial contributions may be made to St. Vincent DePaul Society or St. Benedict Cathedral. The family would like to thank North Park Nursing Center .
