Marvin U. Devers


Marvin U. "Lucky" Devers, 68, died Sunday, October 16, 2005, at Deaconess Hospital in Evansville.

He was a member of the Teamsters Union No. 215, a veteran of the U.S. Navy, member of Fraternal Order of the Eagles, Owls, West Side Nut Club Softball Leagues, and avid pool player, fisherman, a singer, poker player and played the bass guitar. He enjoyed all sport games and played football for Bosse High School.

Marvin was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Elizabeth Devers.

He is survived by daughters, Kathy E. Woods of Evansville and Guylene E. Thomas and friend, Robert Ramberger, of Evansville; son, Darwin E. Devers and wife, Patty, of Antioch, Ill.; mother-in-law, Clara Hazelip of Evansville; grandchildren, Elaine Woods, Falon Woods, Beau Devers, Jacob Devers and Guy Anthony Thomas; brother, Calvin Devers of Vincennes, Ind.; sister, Freida Hobby of Evansville; great-granddaughter, Ashton Rose; and nieces and nephews.

Services 2 p.m. Thursday, October 20, 2005, at Alexander North Chapel, officiated by Reverend Robert Nall, burial at Sunset Memorial Park.

Friends may call today, October 19th, from 2 to 8 p.m., and Thursday, October 20th, from 11 a.m. to service time, at Alexander North Chapel.
