Dennis Dossett


Dennis Dossett, 83, of Evansville, Ind., passed away Friday, August 4, 2006, at Good Samaritan Pavilion Home.

Dennis was born on November 11, 1922, in Evansville, Indiana. He graduated from Bosse High School [Class of 1940?] and attended Evansville College. He previously worked at Servel and retired in 1981 from Bucyrus-Erie after 25 years as a Senior Analyst.

He was a member of Good Shepherd Catholic Church, a long-time member of Germania Mannerchor, and member and officer of the Evansville Outing Club (former Evansville Hiking Club). Dennis enjoyed hiking, horse racing, German music, original jazz music, the Ohio River, stamp collecting, going to the library, and all dogs.

He is survived by wife of 56 years, Esther Rose (Becker) Dossett, whom he married on February 4, 1950 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Evansville; five sons, Kenneth Dossett, of Evansville, Ind., Bruce (wife, Joyce) Dossett, of St. Louis, Mo., Peter (wife, Becky) Dossett, of Evansville, Ind., Neal (wife, Peggy) Dossett, of Evansville, Ind., Chris Dossett, of Evansville, Ind.; daughter, Sarah (husband, James) Bauer, of Lafayette, Ind.; four grandchildren, Laura Dossett, of Evansville, Ind., Jenni Dossett, of Evansville, Ind., Adam Bauer, of Lafayette, Ind., Erin Rose Bauer, of Lafayette, Ind.; sister-in-law, Betty Camp, of Evansville, Ind. and brother-in-law, Paul (wife, Edna) Becker of Evansville, Ind.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Coy and Hilda (Kuper) Dossett.

Funeral services are planned for 10 a.m. Monday, August 7, 2006, at Good Shepherd Catholic Church, 2301 N. Stockwell Road, with the Good Shepherd Pastoral Team officiating. Burial will be held at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery.

Friends may visit from 2 to 6 p.m., Sunday, August 6, at Browning Funeral Home, 738 Diamond Ave. and on Monday from 9 a.m. until service time at the church.

The family would like to extend their thanks to the nurses and staff at the Good Samaritan Pavilion Home & Deaconess Ohio Valley Hospice Care.

Memorial contributions may be made to Deaconess Ohio Valley Hospice Care, Good Samaritan Pavilion Home or the Vanderburgh County Humane Society through envelopes available at the funeral home.
