Jon Wayne Hill, 69, of Evansville, passed away on Thursday, July 12, 2007, at St. Mary's Medical Center. Jon was former owner and President of Hills Body Shop, Riverfront Market and A-One TV Service. He served as past president of the Local and State Independent Garage Owner's Association. He was a former Manager of Roberts Stadium and Mesker Park Amphitheatre, where he also served on the Board of Directors at Roberts Stadium. He was a co-manager for Voter's Registration and a Precinct Committeeman and Ward Leader with the Democratic Party.
Jon previously worked as a salesman with Schulz Realtors and as an adjuster for State Farm Insurance. He was a [1956?] graduate of Bosse High School and attended the University of Southern Indiana and Ivy Tech Institute. Jon served as president three times at both the East Side Lions Club and Woodmen of the World. He was a veteran of the United States Navy, serving from 1956 to 1961, and a member of the VFW Post 1114.
Jon is survived by his wife of 52 years, Anna M. (Schulz) Hill; son, Donald W. Hill and his wife, LaVerne; daughter, Laura A. Hill; and Mary Mooney, who was like a daughter to him, all of Evansville. Also surviving is a granddaughter, Leigh Ann Hill; step-granddaughters, Brittany Hart and Melissa Hart; brothers, Ronald D. Hill of Denver, Colo., Thomas A. Hill of Corydon, Ind., and Steven M. Hill of Evansville; sisters, Shirley Hill of Evansville, Patricia Bell of Daytona Beach, Fla., Judith Pickerill of Houston, Texas, and Linda Hill and Cindy Moyer, both of Port Orange, Fla.; brother-in-law, Henry Schulz of Evansville; and several nieces and nephews.
Services will be at 11 a.m. on Monday, July 16, at Ziemer Funeral Home East Chapel. Visitation will be on Sunday, July 15, from 2 to 8 p.m., with the Lions Club performing a service at 7:30 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery, where the Retired Veterans Memorial Club will conduct military rites.
