Frances Ruth (Holtmann) Simpson


Frances Ruth (Holtmann) Simpson, 84, formerly of Evansville , died Tuesday, Sept. 21, 2004 , at her home in Fort Myers , Fla.

Frances was born on March 10, 1920 , in Evansville , Ind. , to Louis and Anna (Werfelmann) Holtmann, both of whom preceded her in death. She was a graduate of Bosse High School and Lockyear Business College .

Frances and her husband, Jack Wallis Simpson, were owners and operators of Simpson Food Fair in the Covert & Lodge Shopping Center in Evansville . She was also the secretary and bookkeeper for the grocery store. After their retirement in 1978, Frances and Jack moved to Sarasota , Fla. , where they were members of Beautiful Savior Lutheran Church . They then moved to Fort Myers .

Frances was preceded in death by her husband, Jack, on Nov. 25, 2001 ; and by her sisters, Virginia Cooper and Marion Brown Winsett.

Surviving Francis are her daughter and son-in-law, Carolyn and Norman Stevens of Fort Branch , Ind. ; her daughter, Gayle Simpson of Fort Myers , Fla. ; her granddaughter, Meredith Stevens of Fort Branch ; her brother and sister-in-law, Louis and Dee Holtmann of Boca Raton , Fla. ; and her nieces and nephews.

Services 1 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 25, 2004 , at Miller & Miller Colonial Chapel, Franklin & Heidelbach, Pastor Tom Wenig officiating. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery .

Friends may call from 10 a.m. to service time at 1 p.m. on Saturday at Miller & Miller Colonial Chapel. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Beautiful Savior Lutheran Church Building Fund, 7461 Prospect Road , Sarasota , Fla. 34243 .
