Sandra J. (McWhirt) Rust


Sandra J. (McWhirt) Rust, 69, of Evansville, Indiana, died at 6 a.m. Tuesday, October 30, 2007, at St. Mary's Medical Center.

Sandra was born May 29, 1938, in Gas City, Indiana, to Cedric and Pauline (Nestley) McWhirt. She was a graduate of Bosse High School [1955?]. Sandra was retired from the Vanderburgh County Clerks Office, where she had worked as a supervisor. She enjoyed flower gardening, working puzzles all night long, crocheting, quilting and cake decorating, but Sandra's biggest love was spending time with her children and grandchildren.

She is survived by four daughters, Nannette Preske and her husband, Ben, of Evansville, Tracey Statz, of Evansville, Rhonda Ford, of Evansville, and Jeana Brooks, of Evansville; two sons, Rick Rettle and his wife, Lori, of Evansville and Larry Addison, of Evansville; four grandchildren, Danny Preske, Samantha Preske, Julien Ford and Audra Statz; one sister, Phyllis Jeannine Lincoln, and her children, of Henderson, Ky.; and one sister-in-law, Sarah McWhirt and her children, of Belleville, Ill.

She was preceded in death by a brother, Jack McWhirt, in 2007.

Memorial services will be held at 7 p.m. Friday, November 2, 2007, at Boone Funeral Home, East Chapel, 5330 Washington Avenue, with Chaplain Coy Walters officiating, burial will be private.

Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday, November 1, 2007, at Boone Funeral Home, East Chapel, and 4 p.m. to service time Friday, November 2, 2007.

I enjoyed working with Sandy at the County Clerk's Office. She was a very thoughtful and kind person. She would bake Pumpkin Roll Cakes for us around the holidays. She also was a good seamstress you could call on for an alteration etc. Her time and talents will be greatly missed. Sincerely.
