Hersity Spottsville Stewart Jr.


Hersity Spottsville Stewart Jr., age 55, quietly went home to be with the Lord on Friday, June 23, 2006, at his home.

He was born July 23, 1949, to the late Hersity Spottsville Stewart Sr. and Jeanette (Stewart) Benton.

He was a [1969?] graduate of Bosse High School and a lifelong member of Nazarene Missionary Baptist Church, where he faithfully attended Sunday School. Hersity was an avid student of the Bible.

Hersity was well-known and liked by many. He was noted as a well-dressed man. He was polite, kind and always had a smile.

He leaves to cherish fond memories his mother, Jeanette Benton and stepfather, John Benton of Evansville; five brothers, Charles E. (Mary) Damon, Anthony, Jerome (Bonita) and Chester Benton, all of Evansville; one son, Kareem Strother of Henderson, Ky., four granddaughters; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and a wide circle of friends. He was preceded in death by his father, Hersity Sr. and brother, Michael Stewart.

The homegoing celebration for Hersity will be Wednesday, June 27, 2006, at 11 a.m. at Nazarene Baptist Church, with the Rev. Larry Rascoe officiating. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday, June 26, 2006, from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. at Mason Brothers Memorial Chapel.
